Shannon Sasaki's actually is: her galleries look the way Oahu looks when you live here, saturated ocean blues and loud greens, none of the desaturated beige that travels down from mainland trends. She is a Kaimukī girl who found photography in a high school darkroom and eventually left nursing school for it, and the local fluency shows up in practical ways, like knowing which beach clears out by five and where the light goes soft on the Windward side.
